What could have been

As we walk through life, carefree, happy and seldom blue,
small misjudgements will have us pay the ultimate price.
An old friendship, a happy family is torn in two,
leaving us behind hurt and consumed by grief,
a monster loose worse than the filthiest thief.

What we had can never come again
and soon another will be gone,
leaving the last of us all alone,
our friendship falling apart like a rusty chain.
The phoenix lighting up our way has flown away,
leaving us behind in the darkness to stay.

If destiny had not been so,
having to end it all in one blow,
then maybe it would not have had to end this way,
and we still would have had a lot more left to say,
but never shalt that future be seen,
a happy tale of what could have been.


...Angst. I feel deep, regretful angst about this whole piece. But still it's beautiful...mostly sad and hurting me like hell but I have to be strong.
It will all be okay.
